{"id":12670,"date":"2023-06-28T00:03:52","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T03:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cmalaw.com\/statoil-buys-stake-in-brazilian-solar-project\/"},"modified":"2023-06-28T00:03:52","modified_gmt":"2023-06-28T03:03:52","slug":"statoil-buys-stake-in-brazilian-solar-project","status":"publish","type":"contents","link":"https:\/\/cmalaw.com\/homolog\/contents\/statoil-buys-stake-in-brazilian-solar-project\/","title":{"rendered":"STATOIL BUYS STAKE IN BRAZILIAN SOLAR PROJECT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong>Source: Latin Lawyer<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>By Raevathi Supramaniam<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Dentons in London and Amsterdam and\u00a0Veirano Advogados\u00a0in S\u00e3o Paulo have helped Norwegian state-controlled energy company Statoil acquire a 40% stake in the 162-megawatt Apodi solar project from counterpart Scatec for US$215 million.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/latinlawyer.com\/ll250\/firms\/1135134\/campos-mello-advogados\">Campos Mello Advogados<\/a>\u00a0in S\u00e3o Paulo advised Scatec.<\/p>\n<p>Scatec will retain a 40% share in the project, while another stakeholder Brazilian \u2013 consortium ApodiPar \u2013 keeps a 20% stake.<\/p>\n<p>The Apodi solar facility is located in Quixer\u00e9, north-east Brazil. It is expected to provide 160,000 households with electricity once complete. About 65% of the plant\u2019s funding will come from project financing, while the remainder will be drawn from equity contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Statoil and Scatec have also agreed to a 50\/50 joint venture to build and operate future solar projects in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>Statoil has been increasing its stake in Brazil\u2019s energy space recently. In July this year, it\u00a0acquired\u00a0a further 10% equity stake in the Santos basin from gas company QGEP for 1.2 billion reais (US$379 million), bringing its total stake to 76%.
