During his term of office in the Executive Branch, Bussi\u00e8re contributed to modernizing the legal framework governing the process for selling federal real property and lands, which resulted in the passing of Law No. 14.011\/20. A portion of this federal estate is vacant, unused, or abandoned, which causes lost revenues for the Brazilian State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to contribute to updating the legislation on the disposition of federal real property and lands was an extremely positive experience. Parts of this estate are subject to encroachment or pose a risk to people\u2019s lives, and even cause degradation of the surrounding environment. The process generates considerable losses to the government, in addition to necessitating considerable maintenance expenses. Now, these properties can go through a much more streamlined bidding process. The new legislation will be a legacy for the rationalization of the Brazilian State,\u201d Bussi\u00e8re explains.<\/p>\n<p>To Bussi\u00e8re, his prior ten years\u2019 experience in real estate law at CMA increased his ability to suggest rules that could bring the norms for disposing of federal estate closer to the more modern practices used in Brazil\u2019s private market.<\/p>\n<p>During his first professional cycle as real estate partner at Campos Mello Advogados, Rafael Bussi\u00e8re advised on projects related to the 2016 Rio Olympics and the revitalization of Rio de Janeiro\u2019s port area, known as <em>Porto Maravilha<\/em> \u2013 Marvelous Port. He also worked with domestic and international companies interested in developing large scale real estate projects, including hospitality and leisure, built-to-suit, construction and infrastructure. Bussi\u00e8re is a member of the OAB\/RJ (Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro Chapter) Real Estate Law Committee; IBRADIM (the Brazilian Real Estate Law Institute); and ABAMI (the Brazilian Association of Real Estate Market Lawyers).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCampos Mello is the firm where I grew professionally and acquired the entire base of knowledge on real estate law that I have and was able to apply at the Ministry of the Economy. Returning to CMA is like returning home, but now bringing along all this federal administration knowledge and experience to our private market reality.
