Guilherme Schmidt is a partner at Campos Mello Advogados, specializing in Energy and Natural Resources and Infrastructure.  

 

His practice focuses on energy, regulatory matters, infrastructure, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate law, advising clients on complex transactions and strategic projects. 

 

He has extensive experience in both law firms and the energy sector. Schmidt worked in Shell’s legal department from 1990 to 1993 and later joined one of Brazil’s leading law firms, becoming a partner in 1996. Between 1998 and 1999, he was a visiting attorney at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in New York. He also served as a partner at another prominent Brazilian firm, with a focus on energy, infrastructure, regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, financing, and contracts. 

 

Schmidt has acted as a guest lecturer at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-Rio), teaching courses on national and international contracts and the new electricity sector model in the MBA programs on Technology Law and Energy Management. He is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association and served as Chair of the Infrastructure and Economic Development Commission (CIDE) of OAB/RJ from 2019 to 2024. Since 2017, he has been a member of the OAB/RJ Ethics Council.
