CMA joins the UN Global Compact in Brazil

Campos Mello Advogados in cooperation with DLA Piper (CMA) is now among the members of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative.

Launched in 2000, the Global Compact is responsible for mobilizing the business community to create, organize and implement sustainability measures within their business practices, aligning companies with the ten accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“By joining the Global Compact, we commit to report annually on our progress towards the ten principles. Thus, the initiative encourages the constant evolution of internal sustainability practices. This is an important milestone for our office because we have always aimed to promote and multiply values that are aligned with those of the Global Compact. Now, we will further deepen and spread this practice of corporate citizenship and sustainability”, says Fabio P. Campos Mello, our Managing Partner.

This initiative consolidates an already existing commitment at CMA. Our management – which has recently obtained ISO 14001 certification – prioritizes creating and establishing the best ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) practices in our day-to-day work activities, as expressed by the words of our Environmental Law partner, Vilmar Luiz Graça Gonçalves: “CMA demonstrates to society, its clients and its partners that, in addition to offering legal support so that these issues are effectively incorporated by companies, the firm has this commitment to develop its activities in a way that cares for the environment, whether in terms of sustainability or corporate citizenship.”

Now, Campos Mello will be able to further strengthen its active participation in actions and projects aimed at a more sustainable future, in line with environmental protection, the exercise of duties in a respectful environment, and social responsibility.
