Marcelo Frazão is a Partner at Campos Mello Advogados in cooperation with DLA Piper, where he serves as the co-head of the Energy and Natural Resources sector in Brazil. Specializing in mergers and acquisitions, project development, and disputes within the energy sector, Marcelo has established himself as a key figure in the field.

 

His practice encompasses a diverse range of clients engaged in both conventional and renewable energy projects – including wind, solar, and hydrogen energy generation projects.

 

With a strong focus on sustainability, Marcelo is actively involved in energy transition works including carbon capture and storage (CCS) and biofuel projects in Brazil. He represents some of the most innovative projects in these areas, including the structuring of the first commercial project for CCS in Brazil and the construction of the largest biorefinery in Brazil, with an estimated CAPEX of USD 2,5 billion.

 

Marcelo’s clientele includes developers, global suppliers, sponsors and financiers. He also devotes a substantial amount of this time representing sovereign wealth funds from the Middle East and Japanese trading conglomerates with interests in Brazil.
