DLA PIPER AND CAMPOS MELLO IN CHINESE AGROCHEMICAL DEAL

The Amsterdam, Hamburg, and Paris offices of DLA Piper LLP and Campos Mello Advogados in São Paulo have advised Chinese state-owned agribusiness Syngenta on its acquisition of Nidera Seeds, a major player in the South American agricultural market.

Nidera Seeds’ counsel was unknown prior to publishing. The company is currently owned by COFCO, which is China’s largest state-owned food processor and manufacturer. COFCO acquired Nidera Seeds in February this year.

Nidera has a strong presence in the South American seed market, operating in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

The deal was announced on 6 November. The transaction’s completion is subject to clearance by the relevant competition authorities. The deal value remains confidential.
