Newsletter Data Protection – Bill of law to postpone the enforceability of LGPD is approved in the Federal Senate

We would like to inform our clients that, today, April 3rd, 2020, the Bill of Law #1179/2020, which sets forth the postponement of LGPD enforceability, among other provisions, was approved in the Federal Senate.

According to the approved text, the LGPD enforceability will be postponed to January 01, 2021, while the enforceability of its sanctions will be postponed to August 1, 2021. The emergency bill of law will now be voted by the House of Representatives and, if approved, must be approved by the President.

We are closely monitoring all the bills of law related to this matter that are under discussion before the National Congress and will revert to you in case of any updates.
