Campos Mello Advogados adds six new partners across its M&A, Antitrust, Labor, Tax and Litigation practices

November 1st, 2022 – Campos Mello Advogados (CMA), which operates in cooperation with DLA Piper, is expanding its team and further consolidating its full-service approach with the arrival of six new partners today across its Antitrust and Competition, Corporate, M&A, Tax, Litigation and Labor practices.

Miriam Machado joins CMA’s M&A practice, adding her vast experience in M&A, reorganizations, private equity transactions, debt restructuring and regulatory matters to an expanding practice area for CMA.

“Brazilian corporations have increased their level of sophistication and become more international in recent years, and Brazilian investments in foreign markets is a growing trend,” said Machado. “The CMA and DLA Piper cooperation allows us to offer unparalleled service to clients navigating mergers, acquisitions, spinoffs and consolidation of markets.”

Luciana Martorano joins CMA’s Antitrust practice team after serving as of counsel (in partnership) to the firm for the last three years. Over the last 15 years, Luciana has had over 100 M&A transactions approved by CADE (the Brazilian Antitrust Authority), including several international transactions worth billions of dollars, such as the recent acquisitions in the sectors of Tobacco, Nicotine and Smoking Industries (US$15.7 billion), Technology (US$1.5 billion) and Energy (US$1.3 billion).

In addition to mergers, Martorano also assists clients in in all fields of antitrust law, having participated in major cartel cases judged by CADE – such as Carwash Operation, the Cement Case and the International Foreign Exchange Market Investigation. In the consulting services arena, Luciana also works on developing, implementing and providing training for corporate compliance programs, helping companies prevent or mitigate financial loss and avoid antitrust exposure.

“The synergies between the Antitrust practice and the firm’s other practice areas will certainly expand our already vibrant practice, completing the full-service approach we offer to clients,” said Martorano.

Four more partners are also joining CMA’s team.

Ana Cristina Valentin joins CMA’s Litigation practice, working in the labor field, advising on litigation prevention and contingency reduction, as well as litigation on all instances.

Flavia Ganzella joins CMA’s Tax practice, bringing her vast experience in tax litigation and having done administrative and judicial work in all spheres and on all levels of jurisdiction.

Mirella Kaufman joins CMA’s Corporate practice. Kaufamn has vast experience in M&A, corporate law and contracts for domestic and foreign companies, especially in commercial contract negotiations, and joint venture, venture capital and private equity transactions.

To complete the team, Leonardo Ribas brings his knowledge in civil litigation and arbitration to CMA’s Litigation practice. His experience advising domestic and international clients on both judicial and administrative litigation in the energy, construction and healthcare sectors will strengthen CMA’s already renowned litigation team.
